Game 1

Score: 141
Pair: 9-10

I knew I would have trouble in the practice balls. Rolled 3 and hit the 4 pin, the 2 pin and the 1-2. I just can't hold anything on the outside. I moved left with every ball.

Started at 22, 24, 26, and moved my target from 12 to 13, to 15.

All of my balls read the lanes too early. I never hit a breakpoint, since I never got out there.

Bottom line, fought the lanes, 3 split opens, a missed washout and a missed 10 pin to the left.

Game 2

Score: 191
Pair: 9-10

Again, I had 2 split opens. But changed to my Shift, weakest ball. It got NO finish, and a lot of over under. Left 2, 10's, a 9, and an 8. Got a double with one crossing over.

Changed the rotation on the ball to keep it on the right side, but lost any finish with it.

Those with success are cranking. My Coach was there, and he told me I need a good pearlized ball for these lanes. And, I have NONE.

I am now on 30 over 18 and having trouble keeping it out. Miss right at the target a lot. But, picked up all makable spares.

Game 3

Score: 147
Pair: 9-10

Started, split, split, Strike on the over, split. I just can't get my ball out to a breakpoint. I have NO length. Even tried the Conqueror right down the middle over 20 for my only Brooklyn strike.

Finished with a 4-6 in the tenth. Appropriate finish for a horrible event.

I just can't seem to roll inside with my equipment. I never got out to hit the breakpoint down lane. Every ball turned too early.

Another thing, the lighting in this place was horrible. There was a strip of flourescents right behind the monitors that you couldn't see back on the approach. On the 3rd step, you passed the monitors, and this blinding light hit you. The glare off the lanes from lights made the marks down lane unusable. Many bowlers wore sunglasses through the tournament to cut the glare. I should have. I guess I have to add them to my bag.

I noticed speed was another dilemma as it was being measured at the pindeck. I routinely hit between 12.6 and 12.8. Those who scored better were over 14 and up.

Another thing you might try when the lanes are like that is taking one of your stronger balls and playing as far right, and as straight, as you can. Sometimes you can get the ball halfway down the lane going up 3 or 5, and with a weak release it can roll out into the pocket. Might be something to try next time.

Yeah Chris, I did that. Even to the point where I slackened my wrist. What I found is that to gain some more length, I started forcing the ball out. Shouldn't get my arm into it, but that was the only way. So, I moved left.
