  • 4) I think I was somewhat amped up until here, decided to move just a little left and throw just a little slower. Had my line for the rest of the night after that.

Start with 3 opens, finish with a 7-bagger, crazy night eh? I made a major change, was golfing Saturday and felt a twinge in my right forearm that turned pretty painful later that day. Sunday was a little better, and Monday even better but I was a little scared about trying to throw 50-some balls so I stopped at the local sporting goods store and got one of those velcro bands for tennis elbow and one of those Etonic bowling wrist strappy-on things where you put your thumb through the hole and strap it around your wrist to keep everything firm.

I only got a couple practice frames in and the the first 6 frames of the 1st game were a major struggle with those 3 opens, then a strike, then gutters to open the next two frames. After that though, I got used to the way the ball came off of my fingers and the rest of the night went pretty well. Whatever that wrist thing does, I found myself getting a bit more pin action than I usually do, which was nice. We'll see how Wednesday goes, it'll be free beer night so I'm going in with low expectations.

Free beer night always throws a wrench in the plans. Think you'll keep using the brace when your forearm/wrist heals?

Possibly. One of the things coach Shady commented on was that my hand was too much on top of the ball at release. I don't have video to confirm but that probably means that my wrist was bent back. The brace seems to be making me stay more behind the ball. The release definitely feels different. We'll see how it goes tonight, hopefully the learning curve won't be 6 frames this time.
