  • 1) Not sure what I did wrong. Possibly just pulled the shot.
  • 4) Ball hung on thumb big time and was a 7-10 until the 10 got tripped out really late.
  • 5) Didn't go into slide correctly and stopped short. Caused me to bail out on the release. Spare just wasn't a good release causing the ball not to hit where I want it to be and pins wrapped around the 4.
  • 7) Felt like the thumb was going to hand up during the swing so I eased up on the release. Spare was angled a little too much and the ball drove through the 2.
  • 12) Just a little off on the release.

  • 1) Sat in oil a little more and a little less axis rotation.
  • 2) Late push away.
  • 4) Came around ball early and with the wrist broke back.
  • 5) Pulled through the bottom of the forward swing on strike shot. Spare just was a little wide down lane and up the back of the ball.
  • 6) Didn't get down at the line right and stopped sliding early but got it out and with enough to hit flush and carry.
  • 7) Turned the hand early and timing got off for some reason.
  • 8) Like the shot, guess I was a bit easy on the release trying not to muscle the shot.
  • 9) Ball rotation just looks wrong.
  • 11) Just wide and surprised it didn't go in the gutter much less hit the head pin.

  • 1) Finally a good release and the line is wrong. Spare I got it a bit wide and stayed up the back of the ball.
  • 2) Tight inside. Spare felt the arm go higher and out in the backswing and couldn't stop the rest of the swing and ball was way left off of the hand.
  • 3) Swing just isn't feeling right. For some reason I'm missing target left and often putting it straight up the lane when trying to get a few boards out down lane.
  • 4) Now that ball looked like it checked up early. The swing still felt a little off but the ball did start to go outward but began to hook a little early.
  • 5) Came around a bit early but don't think this ball is going to work moving in like that.
  • 8) Drifted left but I think I might have rushed the shot a little.
  • 9) Brooklyn.
  • 12) In the dry soon and it took off. Of course I stay down and get the ball out the last frame.

Cal, i have a comment you really should consider. You're pulling some shots because you're dropping your thumb. You're dropping your thumb because you are trying too hard to get some reaction on the ball. You're timing is off because you're trying to force the ball through muscle. There is a simple (sure fire) fix to this. Assuming you are square and your backswing isn't forcing your shoulders to open up, it's all in the hand. When your hand is consistantly in a leveraged position, everything relaxes. I know you probably won't (most people are just too darn stubborn) but you really should get a good wrist brace. Gadgit by storm is what i use and it works. If you drop your thumb wearing that, well it won't take you long to figure out not to drop your thumb. You try it, if you don't like it I'LL BUY IT OFF YA. BTW, i'm metguy (in case you don't know).

Just saw this comment Jeff. Not sure what you mean by dropping the thumb, but not all of the misses left are actual pulls. Many times it's other issues like body alignment and swing plan issues. Some shots are muscled but some are swinging free and a matter of body lean, almost upright tends to bring the ball in two or so boards but still projects the ball down the lane correctly. The wrist brace isn't going to happen, I've tried them before. They made my wrist turn early, felt like they were going to come off on every shot, I would have to get all 4 of my balls re-fitted and makes it very difficult just to get the fingers and thumb into the ball. My hand does normally stay in a strong position and a bowler can get a better release without them. I just really need to get out and put in some quality practice time since for several years that's been non-existent.
